Low energy x-rays are used to take images of lung structure. You will lie on a bed that slides inside a wide tube whilst images are taken. Some patients feel anxious during this process but you are able to talk to the physician at all times. A radiologist will analyse the images and check for tumours and abnormally wide airways (bronchiectasis). Images are then analysed in the United Kingdom to determine the extent of disease in the alveoli and airways.
